Despite the difficult moments in his life, sculptor WOLFRAM BECK felt a deep sense of gratitude. Time and again, human gestures enabled him to pursue his destiny as a sculptor without compromise. Until 1961, when Beck's female nude was exhibited alongside Renée Sintenis's pentathlete and Paul Dierkes's phoenix by the Axel Springer publishing house, he led a life full of hardship. It was thanks to this exhibition that he received the necessary attention and thus the commission to create the television award DIE GOLDENE KAMERA.

The WOLFRAM BECK FOUNDATION has set itself the task of giving something back. The lifelong struggle for the work, for the idea, the design, the implementation, and the letting go is an essential characteristic of the artist. Creating art is not the result of a career choice or inclination, but rather a matter of identity. The WOLFRAM BECK FOUNDATION aims to support those who feel called to this profession and to contribute to the engagement with fine art in Germany from 1950 onwards.

WOLFRAM BECK PRIZE FOR SCULPTURE

For the first time, all fine arts students at the Berlin University of the Arts who had passed their intermediate exams were invited to participate in this year's selection process. We are grateful for the many submissions and the enriching conversations with the nominees, whom we had the opportunity to visit in their classes.

Am 10. September haben wir die diesjährige Ausstellung mit Werken der Preisträgerinnen Sara Ama Duah und Sophia Hallmann sowie des Preisträgers Oliver Wellmann eröffnet. Die Eröffnungansprache hielt der Präsident der UdK Professor Markus Hilgert. Die Ausstellung geht bis 30. Oktober 2025.
